Prof. Dr. Hans Jurgen Rosner

Professor Rösner, who was born in 1947, studied economics at the Department of Jurisprudence and Political Science at the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität in Münster since 1967 until he took his masters degree (Diplom-Volkswirt) there in 1972. In 1975 he graduated on the field of business cycle policy. Afterwards he went to the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, which just had been founded at that time. There he worked - first as a collaborator (1975-1981) and later as a university assistant (1982-1988) - at the Department of Economics and Organisation, which was lead by professor Hans Sannmann. After his habilitation in the field of economics in 1988 he was authorized to lecture social policy.

Between 1988 and 1990 Professor Rösner worked in Guatemala for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and as a scientific counsellor for the University Rafael Landívar in Guatemala City. After his return to Germany in 1991 he read social policy for a short time until he followed the call to the Chair of Social Policy of the Department of Political Science at the University of Cologne.

His professorship compromises research and reading on the field of social policy and cooperative science. His current research focus is on labour economics, international social policy, development cooperation and government consultation. Within the subject of cooperative science, his work is dominated by questions concerning the cooperative organisation of economic activities in developing societies.
