ZUMA, the Centre for Survey Research and Methodology in Mannheim, has provided consulting and related support for the social sciences, and in particular for survey research, since 1974. The Centre plans, conducts, and evalutates social science research, collects data that permit longitudinal social studies to be conducted, prepares and enhances data from official statistics, and monitors selected societal developments with the help of a series of social indicators. In addition, ZUMA conducts basic research and development with a sprecial focus on developing and improving social scientific methods and instruments.
