
UpLift India Association
The UpLift India Association owned by the NGOs is working in the areas of Microfinance and Micro-Insurance in the urban depressed areas.
UPLIFT Network was founded in 2000 and consists of nine associations. In the following we will look closer at two of them: Annapurna Parivar Vikas Samvardhan (APVS) Pune and Swabhimaan Pune
The target population are the stakeholders (partners) as well as the beneficiaries of the project. They belong to the class of people who reside in slums and have an income of less than Rs. 50/- per day per member.
Mission
The UpLift India Association Technical Support Team works with the mission of providing various tools and services to NGOs to help them to provide economically sustainable development services to the urban poor.
The objective of such professionalism input for NGOs is to provoke a chain reaction on the final user living in the slum discovering through the services offered instruments leading his family toward an improvement of his livelihood security both economical and health wise.
In order to achieve this undertaking the UpLift India Association lays down the following objectives:
- To improve the livelihood of the poor in generating income through sustainable activities and improving their risk management system through responsible behaviors in solidarity health or accident mutual security funds,
- To Share means, tools, information, human resources, capacities for maximum efficiency,
- To Co-ordinate activities together for a greater and more consistent impact,
- To Innovate and to create new sustainable, solidarity based products/services in the domains of Micro-finance and Micro-insurance where users have a responsibility towards the system,
- To promote quality through our activities in order to improve our impact to the maximum number of people via new member organizations.
HealthLift

UpLift India Association Services provideds to its members
Health and Risk management Activities besides other activities. The Healthuplift provides standardized support to Mutual Funds in:
Design and establishment of Health Insurance Schemes
Micro Insurance Software and IS setup, IT Support and Maintenance
Federation services (Various Re-insurance schemes)
Social Performance and Quality
Staff and Boards members Training and Coaching in the setup of a New Mutual Fund.
Coordination of common Network resources (Doctors, Hospital network,)
Identify groups where Health Mutual Funds can be implemented and guide them for the same.
MIS Setup to gather members information in order to provide official authorities with market analysis and operators' feed back.
Facilitate for Quality Improvement and Accreditation in health promotion
Promotion of Health Mutual Funds in India
Fund Raising Support (grants, equity or loans)
Human Resources
Development Plan and Budget Control.

Annapurna Parivar Vikas Samvardhan (APVS)
Working in Pune since 1993, with its aim to empower women, became part of the team in 2001. It works in over 80 slums across Pune, with various programmes sheltered under it. It provides micro business loans to the men and the women in the slums to start, expand /both their own business. It encourages savings trough these loans along with providing them with Insurance against death, accidents and adequate health care therefore also works in the area of Health Mutual Fund, aiming at stability in the income of the partners. It ensures that the partners have a healthy development along with the basic legal assistance by facilitating basic registrations of ration cards and birth certificates of their children. Keeping the high rate of unemployment and the need for the same, it provides services in the areas of Job Placements in the formal sector and Vocational Training to enable the partners to be self-employed.
Parvati Swayamrojgar (PS)
Parvati Swayamrojgar (PS) created in November 2000, is a non-profit company, created with the intention of overcoming all forms of legalities faced in the field of micro-finance. Its founder members having more than 15 years experience in the field of Finance and Community Development respectively in the social sector, sought to use their expertise in the process of poverty alleviation through Microfinance activities. It became part of the Network in 2003 and has been involved in the Income Generation Activities by providing micro- business loans to partners to start, expand or both their business, in six areas of Pune city. (Janatavasahat, Lohiyanagar, Dandekar Bridge, Kashiwadi, IndiraNagar, Ramtekdi)
